The Siberians Have It!

After a long wait and a jam packed twelve months of collating data and then a lengthy wait to hear the outcome of the GCCF Council meeting the Siberian Cat Club had great news that the GCCF delegates had voted in favour of promoting the Siberian to "intermediate" Status. So from June in forth coming catalogues the Siberian will be able to compete for Best Of Breed and will at last be able to make the transition to being included in the Best In Show Line ups along side its SLH cousins.

A big thank you to all the breeders and exhibitors that aided in the creation of a rather large document that showed the Siberian eligible for moving that step forward to obtaining Champion Status, all being well the time scale for the next stage will be a shorter one and by 2013 we should be able to compete at Champion level. This can only be achieved if breeders and exhibitors again put the cats out on the show bench and send me the results of the classes and write ups of the judges critiques.

BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL, I can at last take a deep breath and look at the next stage with a clear outlook.

Wayne Baxter
Breed Administrator for the Siberian Cat Club.

  1. Wonderful news and well done to you all especially you Wayne, unfortunately I have not shown GCCF yet so cannot take any credit but I hope to get out with my cats soon. How exciting that they can finally compete for BIS

  2. Excellent news Wayne - and sincere thanks for your hard work - I know that at times - it wasn't easy!

Will be good to have the Siberian able to be considered for BIS - as having twice been NBIS even though not eligible - it shows that the Siberian is more than capable of 'holding' their own against the other Breeds.

I hope that the numbers of Siberians shown with GCCF will flourish - and look forward to having a 'punt' at the Intermediate Certificates ourselves in the very near future.

  4. Thank you all it was a task and at times it did seem to be going no where fast with more bits needed here and there. All being well the nest steps will be a shorter one as a lot of the info we have so it just needs putting together and if the cats are shown the Ic's should come rolling in. Zahara & Wytch will be on maternity leave till early next year so they will bring up the rear later on. Scout will come out and so will Alyssa. So role on June.

    Thanks again Wayne.
